Linz is situated on one of Europe's most important waterways, the Danube, which is linked to the Rhine and the Main. Linz is a popular stopover for cycle tourists on the Danube bicycle path from Passau to Vienna.

The Blue Danube Airport (LNZ) of Linz is located outside the city - there is a regular bus service from Linz city to the airport and there is a train from Linz main station to Hörsching station, where you can order a free shuttle service to the airport.
Other major airport hubs including Vienna (VIE) and Munich (MUC) can be reached by train or shuttle services.
